Bump In The Road

For the last couple of days I have been feeling really down that I have not found my passion / calling in life. I even needed to skip work last Tuesday it got so bad.

But then I realised that I do not need to know my passion now, and if I did, what kind of passion would it have been? I mean, what have I really experienced? I could have confused a passion with a skill or even something I like, then wake up at 40 with the rest of the world and go buy myself a motorbike.

So I have decided to chill and see where the breeze takes me and jump at any opportunity that arises. I still have my ultimate goal in mind, but the plan is still a bit blury as I still don't know what I would love to do to get me there. But I will get there and I will find something I love to do.

Reprogram your life

In order to get over the irrational fear we feel when we make decisions we have to change the way we work inside. To do this we need to reprogram ourselves to ignore what we have been told. The funny thing is that we have always been told “you can’t do that” or “there is no money in that” by people that have no idea, and even funnier is that we listen to them. I have now changed my ways. Whenever I hear someone saying “I can’t do that” I think to myself “I can do that”. Your perception becomes your reality.

Continuously telling yourself that you can rather than you can’t is the start of reprogramming your subconscious. As I have stated, your conscious is the path to your subconscious (previous posts). But many times they oppose each other because the conscious is full of new ways, but the subconscious full of old ways (what we have been told). If the conscious gives up then the subconscious overwrites it, however, if we continuously refresh our conscious eventually our subconscious will absorb those thoughts.

One way of doing this is by using affirmations. I know it’s a weird concept, kind of like going mad… Keep telling yourself that you are successful and that you are the person you want to be. Then it will happen. Your conscious will start to overwrite your subconscious and will start driving you towards what you want. REMEMBER that this works both ways! So be careful what you say to yourself.

Emotions also influence your subconscious and visa versa, so try stay happy and in an affirmative mood. Being positive I not enough, as you can be positive about failure, being affirmative is a different state of being. Yesterday influences today, so never finish a day off on a negative note. If you cannot fix what is making you feel negative, then try this. Every night write a gratitude list, write what you are thankful for, like your girlfriend or something you did or learnt that day. It is a great way to finish the day off on a good note and will allow you to start tomorrow fresh and without baggage. Living an affirmative life will then flow down into your subconscious and lead you to a greater things.

Reprogramming your subconscious is a long process, don’t think that it will happen over night as it won’t. This blog is part of my process.

FEAR

To properly discuss fear I need to first explain how I understand the way we work. We are all guided by our subconscious; it guides us to what we really want. The subconscious is a very powerful thing, it can make us do just about anything.

The subconscious absorbs what the conscious is thinking. For years we have been told that the only way to be successful is to get good marks in school, get a good degree then find a “good” job, invest in mutual funds, buy a house, get a dog, marry a pretty woman, have kids and retire. Now because we have been told to do this by just about everyone we have ever met our whole life it becomes part of our subconscious and we start striving for this dream and this dream is the rat race. It becomes our context. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with it at all, just that this has become the norm, and more and more people are thinking this way.

Fear is what is keeping us all back from making the changes we want to make. It stops us from making a success of ourselves. Why did you never take that business opportunity? FEAR…

We need to reprogram our subconscious to align with our goals / what we really want. At present most of use think that there is only one way to make it in life. But with a little reading and research you see that the rat race is a path to failure. Failure in the way that we never really live our own life, the reason we are here on planet earth is to challenge ourselves, learn and develop. To see what I mean you just have to look at the world’s richest and most successful people, Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Richard Kyrosaki, Warren Buffet (to name a few) were never fooled into the rat race. They might have had a job, but it was purely meant for the learning experience.

Fear is an emotion that is deeply routed in our subconscious, therefore each of us will fear different things depending on what we have been taught to think. If we can change the way our subconscious thinks we can change the way we feel fear. Eventually getting to the point where we don’t even feel irrational fear anymore.

To be or not to be!

Never depend on anyone else to make you a success. You are solely responsible for your life path. You create your own destiny.

The path to success is a long hard one, with many obstacles. Many of these obstacles are self prophesized thus created (what we think becomes reality). Before many of us are able to embark on this journey we need to equip ourselves with some tools. These tools will allow us to be able to take the leap of faith and jump into the sea of uncertainty with a clear vision (goal).

The biggest and possibly the hardest step is changing your context and believing that anyone can follow a different path from everyone else, the main thing stopping us all is the emotion FEAR. Next is to determine a goal, then create a plan to achieve your goal and then take the leap! 4 very simplified steps with complex parts and issues.
